On being considerate

Today I have a quick, positive post for you. Safeway at 5pm on a Saturday is no fun. Long lines, grumpy people, dopey employees. I pick up two items and line up behind a lady with a full shopping trolley. She looks up and says, “You’ve only got two items – go in front.” I thanked her profusely and moved forward.

I truly hope this woman is breeding / has bred. Because the world needs people like that. The act of ‘being considerate’ is all too rare, and this woman’s act was more remarkable for two reasons:

1) It wasn’t her kid’s footy club or kindergarten she was helping out, it was a total stranger.

2) I didn’t actually need help. She was just being really nice.

Better to multiply people like her than the self-interested multitudes who on a daily basis shit me and provide so much material for this blog.
