Channel 10 has announced it’s line-up of promotional advertisements for 2008, abandoning it’s previous approach of showing actual television shows.
“The response to the summer promotions for our 2008 television shows has been tremendous,” said Tony Kelly, Head of Programming at Channel Ten.
“Obviously 70-80 percent of our programming over the summer has been promotions for shows that haven’t started yet, so we don’t expect the transition to full-time promotions to be all that difficult,” Kelly said.
Kelly said marquee promotions for shows such as So You Think You Can Dance and The Biggest Loser would lead the way.
“We are planning to show ‘sneak peeks’ of Dance 4-5 times per hour, and that will be interchanged with 3-minute promotions of Loser,” said Kelly. “In between that we will show annoying station i.d.’s of Vincent D’Onofrio pressing a Channel Ten button.”
“There are promotions for everyone in this line-up,” said Kelly. “We have even started teaser ads for Rove and Australian Idol.”
“We’re really confident this approach will work for us. I mean, who could possibly be annoyed by a constant stream of show promotions?”
